Stockport Council have just opened a new Bee Network walking and cycling consultation, for a route from Edgeley, bridging the mainline railway junction and the A6, into the town centre and marketplace.

The Peak District National Park Authority has launched a consultation for input into its next National Park Management Plan — an important chance to get active travel, rights of way and cycling high on its agenda of work.
A new Peak District Cycle Parking Map has just been added here on Peaks & Puddles, pin-pointing over 150 secure bike stand locations in and around the Peak District National Park.
The Peak District National Park Authority encourages motorists to “park and protect” by using one of the 2,000 spaces at its 45 car parks, but a recent enquiry showed it is completely unable, and seemingly unwilling, to list and promote the availability of places to lock a bicycle.
The planned closure of the one-way road from Errwood to Derbyshire Bridge in the Upper Goyt Valley has reportedly been delayed by around a month, as footpath closures and other plans show the scale of the tree felling works.

It’s still very steep, but oh it’s so much better. The nearly ten-year-old path on the Alan Newton Way which climbs sharply from the River Goyt up to Marple Hall has now been massively improved with cleared vegetation and a new sealed surface.
